Evcco’s “Low Smoke Zero Halogen-Flame Retardant” ( LSZH-FR ) conduit & fittings have been supplied for construction by TPE-Twin Peaks Electrics Inc. for the Aspen Distillery in Colorado USA, which is on track to earn both LEEDv4 New Construction Platinum and full Living Building Challenge ( LBC ) certification.

The 8-acre site includes seven buildings: the distillery, a rickhouse for barrel storage, the company’s headquarters, a pumphouse for the onsite wastewater treatment, and three small residential buildings for staff. Half of the site is designated for urban agriculture with a focus on regenerative farming practices to provide food to the Roaring Fork Valley.

Aspen Distillers

Upon completion, Aspen Distillers will be the world’s first distillery to achieve the Living Building Challenge ( LBC ).

Evcco’s LSZH-FR electrical conduit and fittings were chosen by Aspen Distillers in order to meet the Living Building Challenge ( LBC ) rigorous green building certification, which includes sourcing materials that are Red List free.

Aspen Distillers Outside

The selection of building materials was guided by the Living Building Challenge ( LBC ), a rigorous green building certification that Aspen Distillers is working to complete. The “Materials Petal” of the challenge aims to remove the worst known offending materials and practices in construction with a goal of driving business toward a truly responsible materials economy. The five imperatives include:

1. Sourcing materials that are Red List free

2. Tracking embodied carbon from construction

3. Using salvaged materials and responsibly sourced wood and stone

4. Striving to eliminate waste during construction

5. Sourcing materials from local industries

The project is pursuing LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge ( LBC ) certifications for green building and operations.
